Comic Supplies

Not all comic supplies are made equal. We’ve all bought a piece of comic storage equipment that almost immediately fell to pieces, didn’t match our size needs, or simply didn’t work the way we’d intended. Here are my favorite spots to shop for comic supplies. These are companies I’ve used time and again and will continue to use in the future.

ComicSupply.com

There’s almost always a great sale going on at this ubiquitous comic book and supply company. At the time of this writing, they’re holding what they call “25% Off and Supersale Plus” special, featuring a quarter of the price of most of their books and great discounts sprinkled throughout the rest of the store. They even have a Comic Book Supersale section, with thousands of titles at incredibly low prices. Having ordered from this company several times, I can assure you that their customer service and shipping are excellent — I had an order in the mail and forgot that my address had changed. I contacted the company, they stopped and renegotiated the shipment and had my package to me at the correct address the very next day. This is an important feature, as ease of use really helps determine the companies I will use again and again. They didn’t earn the ability to hold their great sales by ripping off customers. Their selection of mylars and comic storage options are unparalleled. If you havent’ shopped comicsupply.com yet, give it a try. You’ll thank me later.

BCWSupplies.com

I shop BCWSupplies whenever I’m looking for comic book related-gifts. Right now, they have an incredible special called Super Value. It includes ten random comic book titles (premium stuff like X-men, Batman, Fantastic Four, etc) plus a Stor-Folio box for storage. This is the perfect setup for someone looking to start or bolster a collection. I’ve also given this gift in bulk to younger relatives — kids love comic books, and what starts out as a nice Christmas gift could turn into a lifetime of collection and joy. Now there’s a thought I can get behind. The other thing I like about BCW is their inventory rotation. I never feel like they’re selling the same old crap. For instance, just last week I was looking for baseball globes for my small but meaningful baseball collection (including a Nolan Ryan ball with a tiny bloodstain . . . obsession!) and decided to browse through BCW. Lo and behold, they have a new baseball globe priced to sell, at less than $0.90 per globe in orders of ten or more. Great price, great product, right when I needed it. For comic book and other collectible accessories, BCW is right up there with ComicSupply.com in terms of a must-shop.

TCBulk.com

I shop at tcbulk.com for a few specific items. For starters, I can’t always afford to buy DrawerBox comic boxes, but I love the design and the function. tcbulk.com has a product alarmingly similar to the DrawerBox product but at a much discounted price. Sure, the boxes aren’t quite as strong as the original DrawerBox product, but they do stack, and they function much the same. It is the file drawer style opening that I like most about the boxes, and the product available at tcbulk.com is $24 for a bundle of five boxes. That’s a saving of about twenty bucks over the original DrawerBox product. tcbulk.com also showcases a wide range of collection material, from comic boxes and storage items, to mylars and other protective products, on down through the worlds of coin and stamp collecting. I’m far more partial to comicsupply.com for comic related products, but tcbulk.com is where I go for other collectible items as well as my comic boxes. Short on cash? Give tcbulk.com a go.
